What are you waiting for?
Do you have as much money as you want to have?
Are you as happy as you want to be?
Have you done everything in life that you've wanted to do?
If you had to leave this life tomorrow, would you have any regrets?
Life isn't forever my dear reader. It is a fleeting moment from the time you are sledding down your favorite hill without a care in the world to the day you are bouncing your grandchild on your own knee.
If I were to tell you that if you don't come up with $10,000 dollars to give me by tomorrow then I am going to slap you across the face, would you come up with the money? Most likely not.
If I told you that if you don't come up with $10,000 dollars to give me by tomorrow then I am going to put a staple gun on your arm and staple right into you, would you come up with the money? Possibly but probably not.
Okay... what if I told you that if you don't come up with $10,000 dollars to give me by tomorrow then I am going to take a burning hot poker and I am going to burn out your eyes and then your tongue and then your ears and I am going to keep going until you are dead, would you come up with the money'? I'd say almost certainly that you would.
So what does this show us about our motivation to achieve an outcome. It tells us that we are more likely to achieve something when our level of pain outweighs the difficulty or pain it might take to achieve that goal. Thus the pain of getting $10,000 by tomorrow is less painful then the pain we perceive will be caused by the burning hot poker as it burns us to death and so we choose the least painful alternative.
So many people just sit there, waiting. I don't know if they are waiting for someone to drop a golden goose in their laps or if they are just so content or feel so "safe" with their 9 to 5 job that they don't reach for their dreams, or maybe they are just waiting for the approval of someone else or EVERYONE else that they choose not to reach for their dreams.
It's understandable that people are afraid. Everyone has fears. We fear losing our jobs. We fear failing at a business opportunity. We fear being rejected by this woman that we want to ask out on a date. We fear that we might not make the bills each month. We fear that we might fail at being a parent.
It's fear that often times lets the dreamsquashers get to us. Who are the dreamsquashers? The dreamsquashers are the people who are controlled by their fear. They are the ones who tried something and it didn't work for them. They are the ones who want everyone else to fail so that they will feel more successful or to somehow feel that they were right about something.
The dreamsquashers have a 9 to 5 job and won't travel the path of the entrepreneur. They would rather rely upon what someone else thinks of their abilities and allow someone else to decide for them what their time is worth.
So how can we avoid the dreamsquashers and reach for wealth in money, happiness, achievements, education, and anything else we strive for?
Turn up your pain threshold just as I did in the example.
Decide what it is you believe you truly want and what you truly deserve in this life. Write it down. Think about it. Cut out pictures that make it materialize for you so that it is so real you can touch it, taste it, and smell it. Imagine what it would be like if you had the confidence, stamina, health, wealth, house, car, and whatever else you see in your ultimate vision for your life. How would you feel? How would you act? What could you do? What would you do? See in your mind's eye just how fabulous your life would be. Literally make that life become a reality in your mind so that you can feel how wonderful it would be.
No, you don't have the wonderful beautiful, happy life anymore. Now you are 85 years old, you don't have a job, the social security system gives you a tiny scrap of money and that goes for your little room in the nursing home. Your wheelchair has an oxygen tank strapped to it and a nurse washes you every few days with a sponge because you can't stand on your own. You can't drive and you don't have a car. Each morning the nurse comes in and is swearing up a storm because you've been sleeping in your own urine all night. You don't get any visitors. You have no freedom. You have no money. Your health is horrible and you barely know what the outside looks like anymore.
Are you happy? It's a pretty painful life to see, isn't it?! Yet I bet it wouldn't happen if you had just said "I'll go for it."
In your wonderful life above you had friends, and health, and money, and vitality beyond compare that would keep you in your home for as long as you wanted to be there.
Did I help you to turn up your pain threshold enough? If not, things could be worse. Yes, they could!
How much pain will it take before YOU take your life and "GO FOR IT"?
I invite YOU to harness that vision of your ultimate life and turn it into a reality. What a joy it would be! Harness everything it takes that is in you to get beyond any fear that holds you back.
Let the fear of that 85 year old you drive you. Let the fear of losing everything you could have that made you feel so wonderful just a few short minutes ago . . . propel you forward in an unstoppable course of action to reach YOUR DREAMS, to achieve YOUR GOALS, to find YOUR PASSION, to unleash YOUR POWER . . . and say HELLO to your DREAMS . . . and once and for all say GOODBYE to the DREAMSQUASHERS!
Remember SBA! See it! Believe it! Achieve it!
