Perhaps you've been trying so hard for so long to "get out from under" or to reach your financial goals, that you don't know what it feels like to be excited, to have a plan and to grasp just how easy it can be to make money if you set your mind to it or even if you just use some common sense.
Millions of people make money every day. Some people trade their time for money and pick up a paycheck each week. Other people create a product or provide a service and get compensated for what they have provided. The compensation they receive for that product or service simply exceeds what it cost them to provide it. That is what we refer to as profit! You can either sell an item or a service for much more than it costs you and make a greater profit. Or sell the item or service for a smaller profit and simply repeat the process more times because people see the value in it.
Ultimately, there's no "magic" to making money. Buy something. Buy something small at a consignment shop or a discount bargain store. Let's say you bought it for 75 cents. Put it on a website of your own or on craig's list, write some compelling advertising copy. Write about the thimble. Write about the material. Write about how excited any collector would be to have this lovely thimble proudly displayed for others to see. Talk about the popularity of ceramic thimbles. In other words, create for the prospective buyer a value that is greater than 75 cents. Advertise it for sale at only $2.99 plus actual shipping. Chances are you that you will sell the thimble if your advertising copy is convincing.
Even if you sell it for $2.99 plus shipping, you have made $2.24 in profit. It's not a huge amount for a profit but it is more than 300% profit when you consider the cost of the thimble. A bank CD is paying about 3.5% per annum if you deposit $1,500 of more but you just made 300%+ on a THIMBLE!
Reader, if you are not excited about that little thimble, then you are missing the big picture. How hard is it to buy something really cheap and sell it for more than you paid for it. That's profit! First it may be a thimble. Then it may be a swirled marble. Then perhaps its a baseball card. Maybe it's a shot class that you put a popular symbol on or etch a symbol on.
Whatever works for you, buy something cheap and sell it at a reasonable markup. Profit then Repeat the process! Profit again! Then Repeat the process.
The best way is to start off by buying things very cheaply and selling them at twice what you paid for them plus shipping costs and materials. I know one fellow who bought a strange engine design that was encased in a clear polyester material. They looked like paperweights. He got a box of 15 of them by going to a sale of storage unit materials from people who didn't pay their bills.
This guy checked on them after selling one on ebay.com for $3,500. He found out these were one of of a kind collectibles from a very limited series of an engine design by a famous designer for Henry Ford. These collectible paperweights sold from between $3,500 to $8,000. In total, this man made over $30,000 on a box of paperweights he bought from a storage unit sale for a lousy $50. Talk about profit!
It was amazing and exciting to hear the man's story. You see, I was already on the "profit track". In fact, I learned about what he had done because I was there on my own profit trail.
I had learned how to repair personal computers to make money from a "Computer Repair for Dummies Book" that I got for $1.00 at a local library book sale.
What does that have to do with anything? I was at this man's house repairing his computer and getting him back online to sell the last three so-called "paper weights" he had left. This man was making a ton of money.
I was there an hour. I cleaned and fixed his computer solely on what I had learned from a $1.00 book. I was paid $200 for the house call and he was thrilled to be up and running again.
That day, we both made great money. This fellow finished making his $30,000+ over the internet and I made $200 for an hour of my time from reading a $1.00 used book.
Calculate the percentage of return.... the pure profit! Do that either for me or for this man.... and you should be very excited! Why? because its no miracle. . . there's no secret. It's out there for you to grab and run with it.
Don't blame the economy. People make money in every kind of economy. Just be a little ingenous, a little resourceful and use your common sense on SIMPLE THINGS! Simple Things Make Money! You can do it! If you have to get "Advertising for Dummies" in order to help you. Do it! You can get it for as low as $2.99 on Amazon.com. It's well worth it! Don't be surprised if you re-sell that book for twice what you paid for it!
GO FOR IT!
Remember SBA! See it! Believe it! Achieve it!
